Among the 1990’s most treasured relics were Adam Sandler’s Hanukkah songs. If Sandler ever feels motivated to be creative again, he’d do himself a favor and add the former French first family to his lyrics. I'm talking about Carla Bruni.
In anticipation of her upcoming concert in Tel Aviv, Carla spoke with the Hebrew-language Yedioth Ahronoth, and shared her passion for the Jewish state. Like Natalie Portman, Carla is "crazy about Israel." She says, "It’s full of life."
And Carla knows a little something about life.
According to Carla, the holy land has touched every aspect of the Bruni/Sarkozy union.
The Italian-born Bruni, 46, told the newspaper that her father was Jewish and that while Sarkozy had a Jewish grandfather he also has a Jewish grandson, Solal, through his son Jean’s 2008 marriage to Jewish heiress Jessica Sebaoun.
"Jean married Jessica, who is Jewish and is the only observant one in her family," she said.
It's Krauthammer's law at work: Everybody's Jewish until proven otherwise.
The father of Carla's son, philosopher Raphael Enthoven, is Jewish.
"His father is Jewish and I give him the gift of both heritages," she told Yedioth Aharonoth.
Bruni said that she had visited Israel twice before; once as a model and once with her husband on a state visit.
Carla's crazy about Israel. And we're crazy about Carla.
