An Israeli Air Force airstrike killed two terrorists, one of whom was responsible for firing rockets into Israel immediately following the funeral of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

The Israeli Defense Forces said that the target was Ahmed Al-Za’anin, a former member of Islamic Jihad who had joined the Popular Front for Liberation of Palestine.

Israel Hayom reports:

According to the IDF, Za'anin was involved in a number of recent rocket attacks against Israel, including the launching of two rockets into southern Israel on Jan. 13 that landed only a few kilometers from the Sharon family ranch, where the former prime minister's funeral service had just ended.

Za'anin and the second terrorist, a relative of Za'anin, were sitting in a parked car on Wednesday when it was hit by a missile, locals said.

"This is another layer in our determined fight against rocket fire toward Israel's cities and citizens," Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon said on Wednesday. "We will not hesitate to continue acting with force in order to hit those who threaten our security, and we will do this in every way and with all the means at our disposal. We see Hamas as responsible for the shooting at Israel, and if it will not impose its will over the terrorist organizations operating in its territory, we will continue to exact a very heavy price from it and from those involved in terrorism and shooting at Israel."
