MSNBC host Ed Schultz mistakenly asked Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.) about her "legal background" while discussing the Chris Christie bridge controversy Thursday.
Ms. Schultz has no official legal background, and the host Schultz quickly apologized for the error. While not a lawyer, she does have a background in student government at the University of Florida.
Ed asked her to give her legal opinion about the decision by David Wildstein to plead the fifth at a hearing before New Jersey lawmakers about the George Washington Bridge scandal:
Full exchange:
ED SCHULTZ: Congresswoman, you have a legal background. What do you think of them taking the fifth today?
DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: I don't have a legal background -- other than serving in elected office for many years.
SCHULTZ: I'm sorry.
