As I mentioned last week, a greater selection of women’s intimates is one of the many succulent fruits we enjoy because of free enterprise. With her latest intimate apparel line, previewed today, we can add supermodel-mogul Gisele Bundchen’s to the list of free-market underwear champions.
"Gisele Bündchen Intimates" stands out since it is, as far as I know, the only line in which the designer models her own product. I call that multitasking.
Gisele, who is married to another model, is the richest model on the planet. She pulls in $42 million a year from endorsements that range from shampoo to skin care. This is her at work:
Gisele's effect on the market is tangible. When she terminated her contract with Victoria's Secret in 2007, the lady garment industry leader's stock dropped 31 percent.
Well on her way to becoming the first billionaire supermodel, Gisele dwarfs hubby Tom Brady's impressive contract with the New England Patriots, which nets him $30 million a year.
The Bundchen-Brady union has lost a bit of its sheen since their nuptials in 2009. Ever since, Brady has had some trouble winning big games.
