Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) was drowned out by hecklers during a Friday press conference on the migrant crisis in New York City.
Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Jerry Nadler, and other New York Democrats held a briefing about the ongoing immigrant struggles in the city. Protesters upset about the condition of the city drowned out much of the event.
"Close the border, close the border. Respect the Constitution, AOC. I am your constituent," one protester yelled, according to the New York Post.
Another man said the Democrat lawmakers "will never be allowed to walk down the streets again" because they "have destroyed our city."
Protesters held signs that said, "Americans first: Vetted & legal migrants only" for the media and politicians to see.
The showdown is the latest development in the immigration crisis in America's biggest city.
Most New Yorkers said in a recent poll that they are concerned about migrant arrivals and want the state to slow their entry.
