A former business associate of Hunter Biden is reportedly in negotiations with House Republicans to sit for a House Oversight Committee interview about the first family's foreign dealings.

Devon Archer, a one-time business associate of Biden and a convicted fraudster, is in talks with the House Oversight Committee, a source told the Washington Times. The sides have not yet set a date. Archer was subpoenaed Monday by committee chairman James Comer (R., Ky.), who said the first son's former business partner "played a significant role in the Biden family's business deals abroad, including but not limited to China, Russia, and Ukraine."

"Additionally, while undertaking these ventures with the Biden family, your client met with then-vice president Biden on multiple occasions, including in the White House," Comer wrote to Archer's lawyer, demanding that Archer sit for a deposition this week.

It appears the committee is agreeing to push the date back. "We are in contact with his attorney to schedule it for another date," a committee aide said.

Archer and Hunter Biden were on the board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma. Then-vice president Joe Biden was involved in policy on Ukraine at the time, and House Republicans are probing any possible corruption.

Archer was called in May to testify in Hunter Biden's ongoing child support case in Arkansas. Archer was also convicted last year of defrauding a Native American tribe out of millions.

The first son is the focus of other investigations. The Justice Department is investigating the purchase of a firearm Biden made while using drugs, which is a federal offense. He's also facing an Internal Revenue Service probe over his taxes. That investigation has lasted five years, a length of time that CNN's senior legal analyst called "preposterous."
