MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell engaged in a rabid takedown of New York mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner and his apparent sociopathic and unrelenting pursuit of higher office Friday on "The Last Word."
O'Donnell emphasized he believes Weiner's "photography" is perfectly standard and not a point of his critique.
Instead, the bombastic MSNBC host asked Weiner to explain his seeming "desperate need" for power and elected office:
LAWRENCE O'DONNELL: You did something for no money? Why didn't you try to go out there and do some good? Why don't you do good somewhere, anywhere in the world. Somewhere, anywhere where you didn't make money.
ANTHONY WEINER: Lawrence? Lawrence? Chillax, buddy. Just dial it down a second. Your critique of me is that I have to be in public life but wait a minute, when you take time off from public life, here is a checklist of things you, we want you to do. I devoted that time to making some money because I had to support my family and not being in public life. Now I am back running for mayor. OK we established those facts - what news are you breaking here?
LAWRENCE O'DONNELL: What I'm trying to get at Anthony is what drives you? In your pursuit of public office.
ANTHONY WEINER: Ask me that question.
LAWRENCE O'DONNELL: Anthony, I mean it from a psychiatric level.
ANTHONY WEINER: Dude, I don't need your psych psychiatric question. Do an interview.
LAWRENCE O'DONNELL: You are being driven by some kind of demons?
ANTHONY WEINER: Lawrence, do you want to ask me a question? This can't be good TV for anybody.
