Hillary Clinton M.I.A. on Syria

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been notably silent on potential U.S. military action in Syria and the use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime.

Clinton wrote on Twitter on Monday to congratulate a woman who swam from Cuba to Florida:

She has not, however, commented on President Obama's plan for some kind of military intervention in Syria in recent weeks.

In the past, Clinton was reported to be a vocal advocate within the administration for greater involvement in the Syria conflict.

She and other key administration figures, including then Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and then Central Intelligence Agency director David H. Petraeus, supported a plan to arm the Syrian opposition.

Clinton's spokesmen did not return requests for comment on the matter over the weekend from BuzzFeed.
