MSNBC host Alex Wagner sharply criticized Democratic New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner Wednesday on Morning Joe, saying "we are not done laughing or cringing" at him yet despite news he had narrowed the gap between him and fellow Democrat Christine Quinn.
A new poll shows Weiner, who resigned from Congress in 2011 after engaging in lewd online behavior and then lying about it, is the top choice among male Democrats.
"Listen, I could say a lot about Anthony Weiner," Wagner said. "The fact that he worked a room with confidence doesn't actually surprise me. I do not think New Yorkers and, you know, I'm paraphrasing some New York polls here, want their mayor to be a laughingstock, and I think we are not done laughing or cringing at Anthony Weiner yet. He still has a lot of ground to make up."
