White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough spoke with CBS This Morning hosts Charlie Rose and Norah O’Donnell and made a glaring admission about America’s recent energy boom just ahead of tonight’s State of the Union address.
"You saw us taking a lot of action last year," he said. "We produced more energy in this country, more oil in this country, than we imported for the first time in 20 years."
"Was that the White House that did that?" O’Donnell asked.
"No, that’s the work of the American workers and companies, along with the administration’s all of the above energy strategy that said ‘Hey, let’s make sure we’re getting access to all energy that we can,'" he replied.
