Kate Quigley, the sister of slain former Navy SEAL Glen Doherty appeared on CNN’s "Out Front With Erin Burnett" this evening and responded to her mother’s earlier statements urging Mitt Romney to stop mentioning his chance meeting with her heroic son who died in the terror attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, last month.
When asked to respond to her mother’s comments, Quigley stated:
"The fact of the matter is that what Gov. Mitt Romney said about Glen is true, and he called him a hero, and we’re honored by that. And we’re honored by what Obama did for the homecoming and the fact of the matter is being an American hero can be completely bipartisan and everybody wants to point fingers and ‘play the blame game’ and let’s blame the terrorists because that’s who’s at fault here."
The supportive comments for Romney come on the heels of the comments of another fallen SEAL’s relative. Jane Horton, wife of the late Chris Horton who was killed in action in Afghanistan, and of whom Romney also has mentioned meeting prior to his death, while campaigning. Mrs. Horton, today told ABC News:
"’To be honest, I've been through a lot and I'm not a super emotional person but it brings me to tears,’ Horton said in an interview with ABC News, after being informed of her husband's newfound spot on the national stage. ‘Not that he's telling my story, but that he's telling my husband's story, it means the world to me.
"One of the last things my husband said to me before he was killed, when I would ask him, 'Chris, what do you need over there? What can I send you?' he said, 'I need a new president,' Horton recalled."
