Hillary Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri said Wednesday that she doesn't recognize the email she is alleged to have sent insulting Catholics.

CNN reports that when asked about her 2011 email, Palmieri claimed not to have recognized the email between her, Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta and John Halpin at the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank:

Palmieri told reporters on Wednesday that she "didn't recognize (the email) but moreover ... we are not going to fact check each of the emails that were stolen, hacked by Russian lead efforts in an effort to hurt our campaign."

Since the email's revelation, Catholic groups have expressed outrage at Palmieri and Halpins' remarks and even called for Palmieri's resignation.

The emails in question were released by WikiLeaks. The Clinton campaign and some government officials have blamed the Russian government for hacking them.
