Senator Impersonates a Sheep When Voting ‘Nay’ on the Senate Floor

April 19, 2016

A United States Senator brought some entertainment to the Senate chamber on Tuesday by impersonating a sheep when voting against an amendment on the Senate floor.

The animal sound was made while Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R., N.H.) was presiding over the Senate floor with a vote underway on an amendment to a bill.

"Without objection, the question occurs on the amendment," Ayotte said. "All in favor say ‘ay.’"

Several Senators could be heard voicing their approval with a resounding "ay."

"Those opposed," Ayotte then said.

"Naaaayy," one Senator replied impersonating a sheep, drawing laughs from everyone in the room.

"The ‘ays’ appear to have it," Ayotte said with a smile. "The amendment as modified is agreed to."

It is unclear which Senator made the sheep sound.
