Schake: Clinton 'Disagrees' With FBI Assessment of Classified Information

August 8, 2016

Hillary Clinton spokeswoman Kristina Schake said Monday that Clinton "disagrees" with FBI Director James Comey's assessment that she had classified information on her private email server.

CNN host Brianna Keilar asked Schake about Clinton's recent comments that Comey had said she was "truthful" when she said that she did not have classified information in her email. This was not true. Keilar asked Schake why Clinton said that she "short circuited" when she made that claim on Fox News Sunday.

"Because they disagree," Schake said. "He's talking about 110 emails that she has consistently said she does not believe were classified, and he himself in testimony said they were not marked classified."

"But some were classified at the time," Keilar said. "Information classified at the time."

"She disagrees with that and so do the professionals who were emailing her that information," Schake said. "She received emails from more than 300 experts at the State Department and other agencies who understand the classified system, and they disagree. So that's a disagreement about that. But again, she has said this was a mistake, and she's taken responsibility for it."

Although Comey did not recommend to the Justice Department that Clinton should have charges pressed against her, he did give a scathing critique of her handling of classified information, as well as that of the State Department while she was in charge. Comey said Clinton was "extremely careless" with classified information and refuted her constant claim that there was no classified material on her server.
