The ongoing scandal over Hillary Clinton’s personal email address has hurt her standing among independent voters, according to newly released polling data.
Forty percent of self-identified independents say they have a less favorable view of the former secretary of state in light of the revelations, according to survey data released on Thursday by WPA Opinion Research, a Republican polling firm.
A majority of Democrats say the scandal has not affected their views of Clinton, but 29 percent also say that she has "too much baggage to be a good presidential nominee" or that it "will weigh her down and Democrats should actively explore other candidates."
