Politico’s Mike Allen says Democrats are "Ready for Warren" and want to back competitive candidates to fight Hillary Clinton in 2016.
"The dream is Elizabeth Warren," Allen told MSNBC’s "Morning Joe" on Monday, but "she says she’s not running."
According to Politico, Some Democratic donors "feel like Hillary Clinton is not addressing their issues" and believe she is overly hawkish on foreign policy and maintains too many ties with Wall Street big wigs.
"[Donors are] concerned about her views on climate, on money and politics and these are all issues that people give money on," Allen said.
Allen explained some of the party’s biggest donors want another competitive contender for the nomination if only to push Clinton to the left.
When asked about potential contenders for the 2016 Democratic nomination, Allen noted former Virginia Senator Jim Webb, Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.
