Pelosi: I Am 'More Concerned' With Trump's Policies Than Investigating Porn Star Allegations

March 8, 2018

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) on Thursday said it is not a priority of Congress to investigate whether President Donald Trump slept with a porn star over a decade ago.

Pelosi talked about multiple issues during her weekly press briefing, including the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) immigration program, guns, and an inquiry into whether Pelosi believes Congress should investigate Trump for allegedly sleeping with porn star Stormy Daniels in 2006 while married to his current wife Melania.

On the question of Daniels, Pelosi said she is "more concerned" about Trump's policies.

"Let me just say that I am more concerned about the president's policies, which undermine the financial security of America's working families," Pelosi said. "For example, his budget, cutting Medicare, cutting Medicaid, cutting Social Security disability benefits, cutting housing and urban development, cutting food stamps, cutting education. That's what Congress should get involved with."

The minority leader said she doesn't believe Congress should "necessarily have to get involved" with an investigation, but she didn't leave the matter there. Pelosi went on to take a jab at Republicans, saying they would be "very involved" if the president was a Democrat.

"You can be sure, if any of that were happening with the Democrat, the Republicans would be very involved in it," Pelosi said before shifting back to talk about what lawmakers "should" be focused on.

"Our time should be spent making the future better for the American people and creating good paying jobs, reducing costs ... so that they have more confidence, consumer confidence that they can make more than ends meet," Pelosi said.
