A new Republican ad highlights the "Democratic Civil War" that is coming to the forefront in races across the country.
The ad seizes on last week's decision by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee to openly attack one of its own candidates, Laura Moser, who is running for Congress in Texas. The DCCC published opposition research against Moser on its own website, a move that has been criticized by many in the media and even within the Democratic Party.
The DCCC's attack on Moser set off a flood of leaked documents from the committee, such as emails showing how it instructed candidates to stay away from the gun debate in the wake of a mass shooting in Las Vegas last year and how it was using misleading polls to convince candidates to stay away from the issue of single payer healthcare.
"Democrats are at war with themselves," says the ad, which highlights criticism from figures such as Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez and NBC's Chuck Todd.
