Mother of Benghazi Victim: I'm Not Surprised 'Lying' Clinton Has Missing Emails

August 31, 2016

Patricia Smith, mother of Benghazi terrorist attack victim Sean Smith, said Wednesday that she would not be surprised that Hillary Clinton has missing emails.

"I'm not surprised at all," Smith said on Fox Business. "She's been not telling the truth the whole time. I'm not surprised she's still not telling the truth."

Smith said that she has not heard from Clinton, the State Department or the Obama administration despite four-year-old promises that they would give her an explanation on what had happened on September 11, 2012.

"If her lips are moving, she must be lying," Smith said. "She's never taken the time off to explain to me why my son is dead. I think anybody in the world would want to know that."

The Washington Post reported Tuesday that the FBI had recovered at least 30 emails that reference the 2012 terrorist attack on the American consulate in Benghazi that were not previously disclosed.

The emails were recovered during the FBI's year-long investigation into Clinton's private email set up during her time as secretary of state.

A Justice Department attorney had asked until September 30 to review the new emails for classified information. U.S. District Judge Amit P. Mehta told the Justice Department and the State Department to speed up their review and to report back on Sept. 6 with how many of the emails were duplicates.
