"Morning Joe" panelists speculated again Tuesday about the state of President Trump's mental health, saying he was "not well," had a self-destructive "personality disorder" and that his behavior during the Republican primary was "evil."
Trump attacked the Department of Justice via Twitter on Monday, criticizing it for submitting a "watered down" version of his original temporary travel ban executive order to the Supreme Court. However, Trump himself signed that executive order.
He also wrote that that the "courts can call it whatever they want" but that it was definitely a "travel ban." George Conway, an attorney and the husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, tweeted that Trump was hurting his own cause.
Scarborough said on MSNBC that Trump's own "erratic" behavior was working against him, unlike during the Republican primary fight when his actions boosted him with parts of the primary electorate.
"When he said things that offended us during the primary, as sad as it seems about the state of a lot of Republican primary voters, he was doing things that played to his political interest, that would help him in a lot of early primary states," he said. "So it was evil. It was cynical, but it was still in his self-interest."
He said Trump clearly seemed "not well" because of his actions against his White House's self-interest.
Deutsch added he believed Trump "clearly had a personality disorder."
"As far as why he does things that seem to be self-destructive and seem to go against him, I think he clearly has a personality disorder," Deutsch said. "When you have a personality disorder, you need to create drama to feel alive. I'm not a clinician, but that is kind of the analytical behavior of what he does."
No "sane, rational" person would undermine his own administration's case before the Supreme Court, Scarborough said, nor would one publicly criticize the London mayor after last weekend's terrorist attack.
"Even the most evil, cynical person would restrain themselves during that time, because they knew it would cut against their best interest," he said. "This man sitting in the White House, he does not think rationally anymore ... It's getting worse by the day, is it not?"
"It is, frankly, as any mental disorder as people get older," Deutsch said. "Whether it's a personality disorder or borderline personality, to your point, Joe, this behavior is abhorrent. There's not an evil motivation here, other than a self-destructive personality disorder.
Scarborough previously compared Trump to his own mother who suffered from dementia, and Mika Brzezinski has said she's not sure Trump is "OK" mentally.
