'Morning Joe' Panel: Obama May Be 'Politically Toxic' for Democrats in 2014

With a new poll showing its lowest approval rating for President Obama since he took office, MSNBC's Morning Joe said the White House is "politically toxic" for Democrats seeking re-election to Congress in 2014.

The numbers also show strong similarities to the national mood prior to the 2010 midterms, when Republicans rolled across the country and took back a majority in the House of Representatives.

The Washington Post / ABC News survey revealed Obama's overall approval is just 41 percent, with only 42 percent approving his handling of the economy, 37 percent approving of his implementation of Obamacare and 34 percent approving of his handling of the Ukraine situation.

The poll found "Another measure of voting intentions came when people were asked whether they thought it was more important to have Democrats in charge in Congress to help support Obama’s policies or Republicans in charge to act as a check on the president’s policies. On this, 53 percent of voters say Republicans and 39 percent say Democrats. That is almost identical to the results of the same question when it was asked in September 2010, two months before the GOP landslide.
