Lester Holt Debates Donald Trump

September 27, 2016

More than 80 million people tuned in Monday night to see the historic presidential debate between Republican candidate Donald Trump and NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt.

Trump and Holt duked it out on numerous issues, and neither came out a clear winner.

According to the Washington Examiner, Holt asked at least six follow-up questions to Trump on Monday, while he asked Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, who also participated in the debate, none.

Holt asked Trump questions about his role in the Barack Obama birther controversy, his support for stop-and-frisk that Holt said was prejudiced against blacks, why he had not released his taxes, and whether he thought Clinton looked presidential. Holt asked Clinton no direct questions about her email scandal, pay-for-play allegations involving the Clinton Foundation, her statement that half of Trump’s supporters were "deplorables," or her handling of the Benghazi terrorist attack.

In addition, according to Vox.com, Holt interrupted Trump 11 more times than Clinton.

Holt might be a registered Republican, but he certainly earned his mainstream media bona fides with Monday night’s performance.
