Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D.) was photographed with marijuana on Saturday in musician Willie Nelson’s bus.

McAuliffe, one of Hillary Clinton’s most ardent supporters, stopped by Nelson’s bus to meet the singer at a concert in Bristow, Virginia. McAuliffe’s staff maintains that the governor "had no idea" what was on the bus during their 10-minute meeting.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch showed a picture posted to Twitter of McAuliffe smiling next to Nelson. On the table between the two is a container of Willie’s Reserve, Nelson’s brand of marijuana. It is sold in Washington state and Colorado but is illegal in Virginia.

The picture was first posted to Twitter by Nelson’s wife, Annie Nelson, who cited CNN commentator Paul Begala and McAuliffe along with the message, "UH-OH Trouble!"

Annie Nelson then followed up the tweet with another message saying, "One of them did not imbibe-guess which one!!!"

McAuliffe spokesman Brian Coy said the governor went to Nelson’s bus to thank him for participating in the Farm Aid 2016 concert, which benefits family farmers, and denied that he knew what was in front of him, adding that he did not partake in the drug.

"He was not and still is not aware of whatever was on the table or anywhere around him and wouldn’t know marijuana or related paraphernalia if it walked up and shook his hand," Coy said. "He’s cool, but he’s not that cool.
