CNN Host Tries to Burn Trump, Thinks Members of Congress Already Have Term Limits

October 18, 2016

CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin criticized Donald Trump's call for term limits on members of Congress on Tuesday by incorrectly saying that such limits already existed.

As part of a new policy to "drain the swamp" in Washington, D.C., Trump announced Tuesday he would push for a constitutional amendment as president to impose term limits on all members of Congress.

"Correct me, there already are term limits, so what does he mean?" Baldwin skeptically asked reporter Dana Bash.

Indeed, Baldwin had to be corrected. Bash did so politely.

"Right. Well there are term limits on the presidency, of course, and one of the big debates for some time has been whether or not, the fact there are no term limits in Congress, whether that helps to breed corruption because it breeds a whole industry, which we see every day, those of us who live in Washington, of lobbyists who are paid by corporations and groups to influence Congress, and they also give money to the congresspeople's campaigns, and so on and so forth," Bash said.

U.S. presidents are limited to a maximum of two terms in office. However, no measures exist to limit terms for congressmen.
