CNN: Bill Clinton's Remarks About Glass-Steagall Will 'Haunt' Hillary

August 16, 2015

CNN reporter MJ Lee said Sunday that former President Bill Clinton will not always be an asset to his wife Hillary Clinton after remarks he made this week about repealing Glass-Steagall having nothing to do with the financial crisis.

Lee said that would come back to "haunt" his wife on the campaign trail.

"He said there's not a single piece of evidence to show that when he repealed Glass-Steagall that led to the financial crisis," Lee said. "This is a line that is going to haunt Hillary Clinton when she talks about being tough on Wall Street, wanting to rein in big banks. She has a husband and a former president who says the policies I proposed did not lead to the financial crisis. At some point, she’ll have to answer that."

"Bill Clinton not always an asset, is that what you're saying?" host John King asked.

"Not always," Lee said.
