Juanita Broaddrick, the woman who has long accused Bill Clinton of raping her in 1978, told Fox News host Martha McCallum that she was "disappointed" that Time did not include her comments in the magazine's "Person of the Year" profile piece on the #MeToo movement against sexual violence.
In an exclusive interview that aired Monday night, MacCallum asked Broaddrick how she felt when comments she made to Time were not included in the piece, entitled "The Silence Breakers." The article highlighted women of the #MeToo movement who have put a spotlight on sexual harassment and assault by powerful figures in Hollywood, politics, the media, and elsewhere.
"Well, it was disappointing to me, Martha. They had called to ask me and asked if I would be interested in participating in a story that they were doing about the 'Me Too' movement," Broaddrick said. "I really didn't feel a part of that movement. I was 'me too' decades before it was okay to be 'me too,' and I truly didn't feel a part of that and actually at that time I did decline because just like I said, I didn't feel a part of it."
Broaddrick continued her response after a few audio issues and said that the magazine called her back approximately two days later to ask her if she could make a comment for the story.
"I was very happy to do that. I supported these women. I thought they were brave women and I told her 'Yes, I would be happy to submit a comment.' And then a few days went by and I was so happy when they were declared 'Person of the Year,' and when I went to look for my comments, they weren't there," she said.
"That disappointed me," she added.
MacCallum concluded the interview by asking her about the women that came together at a press conference Monday to call for a congressional investigation into President Donald Trump's prior sexual misconduct.
"Well, I think every victim of sexual abuse has the right to be heard and they need to have fairness accordingly," Broaddrick said. "I have no idea what is true and what's not true. I can only speak to my own situation. It was something I lived through and that's all I can speak to."
Broaddrick has long accused Clinton of raping her in an Arkansas hotel room in 1978.
