Hillary Clinton's press secretary, Brian Fallon, said Friday it "boggles the mind" that the FBI would reopen its investigation into Clinton's private email server with the discovery of new documents from an unrelated probe.
MSNBC's Steve Kornacki had the Clinton campaign spokesman on his show hours after news broke that the FBI would be investigating more emails relating to the original investigation into Clinton's email scandal. FBI Director James Comey had determined in July that Clinton was "extremely careless" with handling classified material over her server but said it did not warrant criminal charges.
"The director refers to the possibility that these materials may not be significant at all," Fallon said in response to the new investigation. "It boggles the mind why this step was taken. We are 11 days out from Election Day and several weeks into early voting into the states."
Fallon then suggested that the FBI director should state his reasoning for releasing this information on Friday afternoon.
"The public doesn't have any way to judge the significance of this and what it has to do with Hillary Clinton," Fallon said, referencing the letter that Comey sent Congress on Friday announcing that he was reopening the investigation.
