Biden: Clinton Will Win With ‘Straightforward and Honest’ Campaign

July 11, 2016

Vice President Joe Biden said to CNN’s Jake Tapper on Monday that presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton will win over American voters with a straightforward and honest campaign, despite a majority of Americans being concerned about the prospect of her being elected president and thinking that she is dishonest.

"I believe what’s going to happen over this campaign is the straightforwardness and honesty of her campaign of what she would do for them," Biden said.

Biden compared the proposals presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump has put forth to those Clinton has laid out.

"That’s the best way to deal with the perception that I think exists now. That is the best way to say what you believe, layout what you are going to do, demonstrate you mean it and I think it is going to be very hard for her opponent to do that," Biden said.

An ABC News/Washington Post poll released Monday shows that 56 percent of Americans disapprove of FBI Director James Comey’s recommendation not to prosecute Clinton over her email scandal, while 35 percent approve of Comey’s decision.

The poll also found that 57 percent of voters are worried about what Clinton would do if she is elected president. Twenty-eight percent of poll respondents said that because of the outcome of the FBI investigation, they are less likely to support Clinton. Only 10 percent said that they were more likely to support her.

Clinton has struggled with her honesty and trustworthy numbers throughout her presidential campaign. A recent Quinnipiac University poll revealed that only 37 percent of respondents found Clinton honest and trustworthy while 45 percent found her opponent honest and trustworthy.
