Pundits across the media spoke consistently, and hopefully, of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Likud Party facing near-certain defeat before he proved the doubters wrong in a strong election victory Tuesday.
Netanyahu, fiercely disliked by the White House and its liberal media allies, took on even more vitriol after his speech to the U.S. Congress opposing a nuclear deal with Iran. He fought off a hard, left-wing challenge and ominous polling to lead the Likud Party to 30 seats in the Knesset, ahead of the Zionist Union's 24 seats.
Liberal media members are not handling the victory with much grace.
