Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) seemed unaware that several of her former staffers have gone on to lobby for big corporations Thursday on The Daily Show.
Host Jon Stewart said the "revolving door" of staffers from Capitol Hill to lobbying firms and corporations results in results in legislative quid pro quos.
Pelosi replied she thinks that issue is more common in the executive branch, citing an unspecified instance at NSA. Stewart countered "but folks in your office have gone on to work for Boeing and many other contractors."
"I don't know that," she said:
JON STEWART: But folks in your office have gone on to work for Boeing and many other contractors.
NANCY PELOSI: I don't know that, we usually work --
STEWART: I do.
PELOSI: -- [laughter] -- Well who? Well who? Well who? --[laughter] -- I don't know anyone, I don't know.
A brief search of Pelosi's revolving door records on Open Secrets reveals 28 records of current and former staffers who have gone through the "revolving door" between Congress, lobbying firms and the private sector.
Some of the federal contractors that have employed former Pelosi staffers include Boeing, Microsoft, and Ernst & Young.
