Representative Scot Kelsh, a Democrat from Fargo, North Dakota, was arrested last Monday night on DUI charges.
Kelsh has served in the North Dakota state legislature since 1996, and in ironic fashion, previously voted for stricter drunk driving laws.
He faces the new DUI penalties, which include a Class B Misdemeanor on the first offense, a $500 fine and license suspension for between 91 and 180 days.
