President Donald Trump said Monday that he is considering holding a military parade in Washington, D.C. for Independence Day next year to tout America's military might.

Trump made the comment while speaking with French President Emmanuel Macron at the United Nations in New York City.

In July, Macron hosted Trump as the guest of honor for the Bastille Day military parade in Paris.

Trump on Monday praised the Bastille Day parade and the French military.

"To a large extent, because of what I witnessed, we may do something like that on July 4th in Washington down Pennsylvania Avenue," Trump said.

"We're actually thinking about Fourth of July, Pennsylvania Avenue, having a really great parade to show our military strength," Trump said.

Trump added that he is talking with chief of staff John Kelly and others about the potential military demonstration.

Macron said that it was an honor to host Trump and First Lady Melania Trump in Paris.

U.S. Army soldiers led the parade in Paris earlier this summer. A French military band also performed a Daft Punk melody for the two world leaders.
