State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said her department was "deeply troubled" by Israel's strike on a Gaza power plant, continuing an ongoing trend of John Kerry's State Department obliquely criticizing Israel's actions.
"We’re deeply troubled by the humanitarian impact of reduced electricity in Gaza," Psaki told reporters, "particularly for emergency services, and urge all parties to respect the civilian nature of these facilities."
State Department representatives regularly express concern over Israel's actions, or urge them to do more to protect civilians, while remaining careful to affirm Israel's right to defend itself and not explicitly condemn their actions.
