Iranian Supreme Leader Threatens US Will Be Defeated if War Breaks Out

September 18, 2015

In a chilling new video, Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei says that if the Iran and the U.S. go to war, the U.S. will lose and be humiliated.

The video features Khamenei’s voice with English subtitles. The video starts with Obama in an interview, saying that the U.S. could "knock out [the Iranian] military with speed and dispatch."

"If those who will hear this statement want to know the truth and if they are willing to use their experiences correctly... want to know the truth and if they are willing to use their experiences correctly," Khamenei begins.

The video then cuts in, showing a timeline of U.S. conflicts in the Middle East that Khamenei has deemed failures, including the 33-Day War in Lebanon, the American RQ-170 drone that Iran shot down on its own soil in December 2012, and the Iraq War.

Over a picture of Iranian missiles launching, the English subtitles to Khamenei's words read, "We neither welcome nor begin any war."

Khamenei warns that if a war breaks out, one country would emerge humiliated: "criminal America."

The video ends with an upside-down silhouette of American soldiers carrying an American-flag-draped coffin. As the image rotates upward, the silhouette of the Khamenei with the Iranian Army comes into focus.

The Times of Israel reports that the crowd in the background at the end of the clip is saying, "We will stand until the end. Khamenei is the leader."

Following the end of the negotiations for the Iran nuclear deal, Iran has issued threats to both the U.S. and Israel. The deal will be implemented on Oct. 18, but it is not clear when the sanctions will be lifted.
