Iran’s stockpile of nuclear fuel increased 20 percent over the last 18 months, "undercutting the Obama administration’s contention that the Iranian program had been ‘frozen’ during that period," according to the New York Times.
The news comes as Western negotiators work to close a final deal with Iran aimed at downgrading its nuclear capabilities. The Obama administration has placed a June deadline on the talks.
Western sources aware of Iran’s growing nuclear stockpile are unsure why the country’s stockpile continues to grow despite assurances under a 2013 interim agreement that this would not occur, according to the Times.
