Sen. Max Baucus (D., Mont.) did not inspire a lot of confidence in his nomination to be U.S. Ambassador to China at Tuesday's confirmation hearing.
Baucus told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee he's "no real expert on China," couldn't commit to even attending church services there and couldn't say definitively whether the Obama administration considers the U.S. Embassy there to be an "island of freedom," among other questionable responses and a lot of awkward laughter.
