A person with a gun opened fired at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on Friday afternoon, reportedly killing at least five people.
At least eight people were injured and five had died, NBC News reported, citing the Broward County sheriff.
There appeared to have been one shooter, who reportedly opened fire at a lower-level baggage claim inside Terminal 2. He is now in police custody, according to local police and social media.
Preliminary reports have identified the shooter as 26-year-old Estaban Santiago, who may have been carrying a military ID on him at the time of the shooting.
The situation had appeared to be resolved until reports of additional shots fired sent the airport into a panic. It is unclear if there is a second shooter.
All seems calm now but the police aren't letting anyone out of the airport - at least not the area where I am.
