Israeli Student Stabbed In Brooklyn Synagogue Attack

December 9, 2014

A 51-year-old man stabbed an Israeli student in the neck Tuesday morning after bursting into a Brooklyn synagogue wielding a knife and yelling "I want to kill the Jew!"

The New York Daily News reported that the man, Calvin Peters, stabbed 22-year-old student Levi Rosenblatt at the Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters while he was praying around 1:45 a.m.

A disturbing video posted on Israeli website 0404 shows the full exchange between the NYPD anti-terror unit and Peters. The police repeatedly told Peters to drop the knife, and although he initially complied, he picked up the knife again and rushed toward the police officers, prompting them to shoot Peters in the stomach.

Peters was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he died at 3:15 a.m. Rosenblatt was taken to the same hospital and is said to be in stable condition after surgery.
