NYPD has arrested a Muslim woman for obstructing government administration and reporting a false incident on Wednesday after she claimed she was attacked by Donald Trump supporters on the subway in Manhattan.

Yasmin Seweid, an 18-year-old Baruch College student from Long Island, claimed she was harassed on the subway by three white men on December 1. Seweid said the men were drunk and shouting "Donald Trump" at her. The college student asserted the men mocked her and attempted to remove the hijab from her head. Her story soon went viral.

Seweid provided a description of the suspects to the police and "had numerous opportunities to admit nothing happened and she kept sticking by her story," a police source told the New York Daily News.

The teen even posted about her attack on Facebook, writing "it was just so dehumanizing I can't speak about it without getting emotional," Seweid wrote on the social media site.

Seweid came clean to police detectives almost two weeks later, stating she made up the whole incident because of family problems.

Seweid was arrested Wednesday evening for obstructing government administration and reporting a false incident, according to NYPD Sgt. Brendan Ryan.

Seweid was released after her court appearance at an arraignment early Thursday morning in Manhattan Criminal Court.

Seweid's older brother, Abdoul, was charged in 2012 for falsely reporting an incident to police, too.
