MSNBC reporter Kerry Sanders ran out of gas while covering Hurricane Matthew in Florida.
Reporter Hallie Jackson checked in with Sanders only to find him alone with his cameraman at a gas station. They had run out of gas while attempting to make it to Jacksonville beach.
"I understand you had to stop. You are out of gas? What’s the deal?" Jackson asked.
"We are out of gas," Sander said mid-hurricane. "That is not only a challenge for us but for a lot of people."
Sanders explained he started in Miami and had been chasing the hurricane north.
The only problem? The gas pumps have been turned off as a safety issue.
"There is no way to get any gas," Sander said.
Sanders pointed to the MSNBC car and explained they did have just enough "maybe" to get over to the Jacksonville beach pending approval from authorities.
Sanders has had his share of unusual moments on-air for MSNBC. In February, he tried to report live from a gun range in Nevada and was drowned out by the shooting going on behind him. He also took MSNBC viewers on a memorable and possibly illegal tour of the apartment of the San Bernardino terrorists' apartment, while the investigation was still ongoing.
