Benghazi Operators Will Testify Week of Nov. 11 in Classified Hearing

State Department says none of its contractors were involved in storing or transferring weapons

November 1, 2013

Operators who were on the ground during the September 11, 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack will testify the week of November 11 in a classified briefing before the House Intelligence Committee, Catherine Herridge reported Friday on Special Report.

The testimony should give investigators a valuable resource for investigators who are trying to ascertain what the U.S. intelligence community was doing there, according to Daily Beast writer Eli Lake.

Additionally, Herridge reported Fox News attained a letter from the State Department to Rep. Frank Wolf (R., Va.) which claimed the State Department played no role in collecting or storing any weapons in Benghazi. The letter also said explicitly none of the weapons collected were transferred to Syria:

ELI LAKE: We have never heard from the perspective of the actual operators who went on the ground. The other thing is these guys are working in Benghazi, and they can begin to tell the story of what the U.S. intelligence community was doing there.

CATHERINE HERRIDGE: And whether the CIA operation was the target of the attack or somehow provoked the attack which killed Ambassador Chris Stevens, Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith, and former Navy SEALS Ty Woods and Glen Doherty. This recent letter to Republican Congressman Frank Wolf obtained by Fox News meticulously lays out the State Department's weapons program in Benghazi, but emphasizes it does not speak for all U.S. government entities. "We respectfully refer you to the Central Intelligence Agency for any questions regarding the activities. Department supported contractors did not store collected weapons at U.S. facilities in Benghazi, or transfer them to other parties. To be clear, none of the weapons collected were ever transferred to Syria."
