CNN's Anderson Cooper used "The RidicuList" portion of AC360 Wednesday to mock President Obama's poorly prepared nominees for U.S. Ambassador to Norway and China.
George Tsunis and Sen. Max Baucus (D., Mont.) made waves the past two weeks with their flubbed confirmation hearings.
Tsunis, a major Obama bundler, messed up basic facts about Norway during his confirmation hearing, for instance thinking the country had a president when it's a constitutional monarchy and conveying untrue statements about the country's Progress Party. Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) dryly called him "incredibly qualified" after his questioning of Tsunis.
Cooper sarcastically noted Tsunis admitted he'd never been to Norway and yet was still the nominee to be the ambassador there.
"I'm not sure Tsunis even googled Norway," Cooper said.
Baucus also looked unprepared, making odd statements under questioning from Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) in particular.
"I'm no real expert on China," Baucus acknowledged at one point, among other awkward moments.
Cooper suggested Caitlin Upton as a potential ambassador to "the Iraq", referencing the pageant contestant who famously gave an incoherent answer to why so many Americans can't find the U.S. on a map.
