Virginia Cancer Patient's Insurance Terminated Due to Obamacare

November 25, 2013

Debra Fishericks, a Virginia Beach woman suffering from Kidney Cancer, has learned that her health insurance plan will be dropped due to Obamacare.

Fishericks has worked at Atkinson Realty for ten years and said that she had reasonable premiums under the company’s health insurance plan.

"We were happy, we had great insurance. We had continuing care for our employees," Betsy Atkinson, owner of the realty company, told WDBJ.

The company was notified that their coverage did not comply with Obamacare requirements.

Fishericks has looked on the Obamcare website for a new policy, but to much dismay, as the plans on the website come with premiums that she cannot afford. "They just go up higher and higher when there is a pre-existing [condition]. There’s so many unanswered questions, Fishericks bemoaned.

Making matters worse, the White House anticipated that millions of Americans would lose their health insurance provided by their employers and that as a result, many companies would send their employees to the Obamacare health exchange website to purchase their own insurance, Administration records show.
