BuzzFeed reported Thursday that whole sections of Wisconsin Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke's jobs plan were taken verbatim from former Democratic candidates.
Burke laid the blame on a consultant, and promptly fired him.
A video of Burke from March shows her lecturing about how economic plans deserve "serious thinking" and "real detail," and bragging about reading through lots of plans to compose hers: "I just think, when you get serious, I read through a lot of economic development plans in putting together this plan and none of them were four pages long. We're talking about a state's economy. We're talking about our future. It deserves some serious thinking and some real detail and some real plans."
Despite all this "serious thought," Burke claims she had no idea of the plagiarism until Thursday.
