Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus compared talking about a person's weight to referencing sexual assault on a Meet The Press roundtable Sunday.
When discussing Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand's (D., N.Y.) new book that alleges her male colleagues made sexist remarks about her weight, Marcus used poor taste by rhyming "weight" with "rape."
"Any women's who been around there is not shocked by the comments going around there.
"By the way, for politicians of both parties, might I suggest that 'weight' is the new 'rape.' It's really a bad idea to talk about," Marcus said.
Marcus was referencing failed Senate candidate Todd Akin's infamous "legitimate rape" comment that sunk his 2012 campaign for Sen. Claire McCaskill's (D., Mo.) seat.
