Republican David Perdue revved up the crowd at Georgia’s U.S. Senate debate Tuesday, charging that a vote for his opponent, Democrat Michelle Nunn, is a vote for Sen. Harry Reid (D., N.V.).
"I’m getting a little bored hearing this ‘I’m going to work across the aisle,’ when nobody on the Democratic side has decided they want to work across the aisle with Republicans," Perdue said to the cheering crowd.
The audience continued to applaud as Perdue criticized Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for flatly ignoring his Republican colleagues.
"We have 384 bills stuck on Harry Reid’s desk. [Nunn’s] first vote will be for Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader," Perdue said. "We cannot stand for two more years of his and possibly 10 more years of this direction."
Perdue further charged that Nunn would vote solely with the Democratic Party, not as a trustee of her constituents.
"You say you want to be a team-building conciliator, but you will not bite the hand that feeds you," Perdue said.
