Sean Eldridge: I Can Relate to Regular People, I Worked At Taco Bell

New York Democratic congressional candidate Sean Eldridge, whose husband is multimillionaire Facebook "Poke" button creator Chris Hughes, said he can relate to the working class people of the 19th District because, among other revelations, his first job was working the drive-thru at a Taco Bell.

"My parents both came from working class backgrounds, and then I grew up a middle-class community," Eldridge said Tuesday at an editorial meeting for the Daily Freeman. "Facebook happened 10 years ago, so I met Chris nine years ago ...  Obviously over the last nine years, Facebook has become a household name, and we've been very fortunate. We certainly come from middle-class backgrounds, can absolutely relate. My first job when I was in high school was working at Taco Bell. I worked at the drive-thru and made $5.25 an hour, and now I've been very blessed."

Eldridge is currently seeking to unseat incumbent Rep. Chris Gibson (R., N.Y.), a lifelong resident of the district. Eldridge used some of the Facebook fortune from Hughes to start Hudson River Ventures, an investment fund focusing on local small businesses.
