A trailer released by Russian state television to promote Vladimir Putin’s forthcoming speech features a stunning compilation of 2014’s most dramatic global events, sparking speculation that Putin’s speech will be equally dramatic.
The ad, released a day ahead of Russia’s annual media conference, gives the impression that Putin will address global crises during the Kremlin’s four-hour news conference with more than 1,200 Russian and international journalists in attendance.
Among the scenes portrayed in the trailer are the Sochi Olympics, Islamic State beheadings, the Ebola crisis, and global natural disasters.
The 41-second, action-packed teaser certainly sets a high bar for Putin, who has just won Russia’s ‘Man of the Year’ award for the 15th straight year.
It remains to be seen how Putin plans to address a massive drop in oil revenue and impending sanctions from the United States.
