President Obama is now the most lampooned target on late-night comedy shows, USA Today reports.

Obama was the punch line of 288 monologue jokes by comedians Jay Leno, David Letterman, Jimmy Fallon, Craig Ferguson, and Jimmy Kimmel during the first half of 2013, while beleaguered Democratic New York City mayoral candidate and serial sexter Anthony Weiner was the subject of 120 jokes, according to a study:

The analysis was done by the Center for Media and Public Affairs at George Mason University in Virginia.

During the 2012 election, error-prone Republican candidate Mitt Romney topped the late-night joke survey, the target of twice as many jokes as the incumbent President Obama.

Now, with Republican politicians more in the background, Obama is front and center during late-night monologues.

The study found Democrats were the target of 713 jokes between January and June 2013, compared with 417 gags about Republicans.

The Associated Press reported Fallon was the toughest on Democrats, targeting them 240 times compared with 76 for Republicans. Letterman had 139 jokes about Republicans and 102 about Democrats, the CMPA found.
