Republican Cory Gardner released a scathing ad Tuesday criticizing Sen. Mark Udall (D., Colo.) for "talking tough" on national security when he continuously ignored threats while serving in the Senate.
The ad claimed Udall missed 64 percent of hearings for the Senate Armed Services Committee. He was also absent for every hearing on emerging threats to U.S. national security.
The ad highlights a quote from the Sept. 4 Senate debate, where Udall said, "I said last week that ISIL does not present an imminent thereat to this nation and it doesn’t."
Udall and Gardner are facing off in one of the most contentious Senate races of 2014. Gardner currently leads by one point.
